Saber Interactive's RoadCraft, released 20 May 2025, puts you in charge of a disaster recovery contractor working eight maps of roughly four square kilometres each. You clear wreckage, pour sand, pave asphalt, then hand the finished road to AI convoys that haul cargo while you go and build the next one. Terrain deforms permanently under weight, so the shortcut you rushed on trip one is the mud pit that strands a loaded truck on trip three.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

S-Tier: Tayga 6455B

Key MechanicFour stage road building
Recommended BuildScout

How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.

Best builds using Tayga 6455B: Pairs naturally with Scout thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.

A-Tier: Kronenwerk L-34

A dozer that clears debris and, more importantly, grades poured sand into a flat bed. Most paving failures trace back to not making enough passes with this before the paver goes down.

TierA
Best ForFlattening sand and shoving wreckage clear of a route
Key MechanicTerrain deformation
Recommended BuildCargo hauler

How to get it: Accessible in the early-to-mid game. Check our maps guide for the location.

Best builds using Kronenwerk L-34: Pairs naturally with Cargo hauler thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.

A-Tier: DS 135A 'Bunker'

An asphalt paver that lays the surface layer at walking pace. Road width often needs two or three parallel passes, and any bump left in the sand under it shows up as a defect.

B-Tier: Arling Roadworks 750R

An asphalt roller that compacts the fresh surface into a finished road. Until this passes over it the asphalt is not a real road and trucks will still sink into it.

How to get it: Found in later areas. Our walkthrough covers when you can access this.

Best builds using Arling Roadworks 750R: Pairs naturally with Dozer thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.

B-Tier: Zikz 605E

A heavy equipment transporter that carries other machines on its bed. Driving a paver across half a map under its own power wastes far more time than loading it onto this.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Aftermath
  2. Kronenwerk L-34 → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. DS 135A 'Bunker' → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Tayga 6455B → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Pour sand, then make at least two full dozer passes over it before the paver touches it. The paver follows the surface it is given, so a lumpy sand bed produces a road with gaps that trucks will get caught on for the rest of the map.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
