This is the original SMITE, the third person MOBA Hi-Rez and Titan Forge launched out of beta on 25 March 2014 and later put on Steam. Its roster closed at 130 gods, finishing with the Egyptian sky goddess Nut in Year 11, after which all new content moved to SMITE 2. The servers are still up and matches still fill, but the game sits in maintenance mode, so what follows describes a settled game rather than a moving one.

SMITE features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

Conquest lanes: Starting Area

Three lanes with towers and phoenixes, a solo laner on the short lane, a mid laner in the centre and a carry with a support on the long lane. Wave position here decides where the jungler can afford to be.

Jungle buff camps: Early Game

Neutral camps between the lanes granting mana, damage, movement speed and attack speed buffs. Which buff a jungler takes first is a reliable tell for which lane they intend to visit.

What to Do Here

  • Focus on mastering Relics as free actives. It's critical from this point on.
  • Farm for Jotunn's Wrath if you don't have it yet.
  • Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
  • Prepare for the difficulty spike in Gold Fury and Oracle Fury pits.

Gold Fury and Oracle Fury pits: Mid Game

Gold Fury sits beside the long lane and pays the whole team in gold and experience. The Oracle Fury camp sits across from it, spawns 35 seconds into the match and returns roughly every 3 minutes.

Fire Giant and Pyromancer camps: Late Game

Fire Giant sits on the short lane side and its buff converts a won teamfight into a won game. The mid camp behind it despawns 7 minutes in and is replaced by the Pyromancer.

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Qin's Sais should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Maintenance mode and the SMITE 2 handover mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into Arena, Joust and Assault maps.

Arena, Joust and Assault maps: Endgame

The modes outside Conquest. Arena is one open pit with a ticket counter, Joust is a single lane 3v3, and Assault is a single lane with randomly assigned gods. All three are shorter and far more forgiving.

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Assassin for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: Conquest lanes → Jungle buff camps → Gold Fury and Oracle Fury pits → Fire Giant and Pyromancer camps → Arena, Joust and Assault maps. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
