Ubisoft Paris released Wildlands on 7 March 2017 and handed players an open Bolivia divided into 21 provinces, all of them reachable from the first hour. The Santa Blanca cartel runs the country under El Sueno, and your four man Ghost team of Nomad, Holt, Midas and Weaver works through its structure from the bottom up. You can bring three AI teammates or three other players, and either way the sync shot is the mechanic the whole game is built around.
Boss fights are where Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

Itacua Bosses
Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: One star, levels 1 to 5 Recommended role: Drone Operator with 805 Bren A2
Strategy
The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. Mark up to three enemies and the squad kills all of them in the same instant. This is your primary tool here.
Key tips:
- Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
- Use Sync Shot and the four man team to create safe windows.
- 805 Bren A2 is enough to handle everything here.
Ocoro Bosses
Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: Two stars, levels 5 to 10 Recommended role: Drone Operator with 805 Bren A2
Strategy
Early game bosses test your understanding of The Santa Blanca hierarchy. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.
Key tips:
- The Santa Blanca hierarchy is critical for these fights.
- Farm 805 Bren A2 upgrades if you're struggling.
- Consider switching to Drone Operator if your current setup isn't working.
Villa Verde Bosses
Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: Three stars, levels 12 to 18 Recommended role: Sync Shot Marksman with P416
Strategy
Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.
Key tips:
- You need both Sync Shot and the four man team and Drone tagging and recon mastery.
- P416 makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
- See our combat guide for advanced techniques.
Montuyoc Bosses
Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: Four to five stars, levels 20 and above Recommended role: Sync Shot Marksman with P416
Strategy
Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.
Key tips:
- Make sure your build is fully optimized.
- P416 at max upgrade is recommended.
- Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.
Media Luna Bosses
Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: Five stars, levels 25 and above, or a careful stealth run at any level Recommended role: Sync Shot Marksman with P416
Strategy
Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.
Key tips:
- Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
- Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
- These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.
General Boss Tips
- Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
- Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
- Upgrade your weapons: A max-upgraded P416 trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
- Use Sync Shot and the four man team: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
- Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
