Equipment Analysis

Riflemen Squad: The US line infantry squad, cheap enough to field three or four early and able to build sandbags, throw grenades and pick up a Bazooka. Their damage falls off badly at long range, so they need cover to cross open ground.

MG 42 Machine Gun Team: The Wehrmacht heavy machine gun sets up in a wide arc and suppresses anything inside it, dropping enemy infantry to a crawl. It is helpless once flanked, since the crew must repack and turn before firing again.

M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer: Fast, lightly armoured and armed with a gun that opens German medium tanks, the Hellcat is a tool for ambushing rather than brawling. Anything that shoots back at it usually wins the exchange.

Panzer IV Medium Tank: The German workhorse medium tank, good against infantry and able to trade with Shermans head on. Its side and rear plate is thin enough that a single flanking anti-tank gun can finish it.

6-pounder Anti-tank Gun Team: British towed anti-tank gun that hits hard from a static position and is nearly useless while being repositioned. Place it looking down a lane you expect armour to use, not next to your infantry.

Meta Analysis

The current meta in Company of Heroes 3 centers on Italian dynamic campaign map and Full Tactical Pause. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.

What's strong right now:

  • US Forces with Riflemen Squad is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
  • Breach on garrisoned buildings builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
  • Wehrmacht remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.

What's underrated:

  • British Forces is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
  • M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer offers excellent performance for its investment level.

What's overhyped:

  • Pure Battlegroups builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
