NPC Studio's pixel-art farming sim entered Early Access on 5 August 2024 and reached 1.0 exactly two years later, on 5 August 2026. An earthquake has cracked the town open and left magic leaking out of it, and you are handed the overgrown Sweetwater Farm in exchange for helping put Mistria back together. Nine skills run to level 60 apiece, the mines drop 100 floors, and 12 of the 30-plus villagers can be married.

Fields of Mistria features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

Sweetwater Farm: Starting Area

The overgrown homestead you inherit, cleared with the axe and hoe over your first season. Caldarus' statue sits here and handles perks for seven of the nine skills, so you will return to it constantly.

The Narrows: Early Game

A distinct outdoor area beyond the town proper, with its own foraging and fishing spots. It is one of the areas that changes visibly with the seasons, so what is worth collecting there rotates.

What to Do Here

  • Focus on mastering Essence perks at Caldarus' shrine. It's critical from this point on.
  • Farm for Iron Sword if you don't have it yet.
  • Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
  • Prepare for the difficulty spike in The Eastern Road.

The Eastern Road: Mid Game

The route running east out of Mistria, connecting the town to areas the earthquake affected. Villager schedules take several characters along it, which makes it useful for gift deliveries as well as gathering.

The Western Ruins: Late Game

Ancient stonework west of the town, tied to the magic that surfaced after the earthquake. Combat encounters and archaeology sites overlap here, so bring a sword as well as a shovel.

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Worn Sword should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Heart events and marriage mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into The Mines.

The Mines: Endgame

One hundred floors split into the Upper Mines, Tide Caverns, Deep Earth, Lava Caves and Ancient Ruins, each behind a seal. The Dragon Statue here manages Mining and Combat perks, separately from the farm statue.

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Ranching for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: Sweetwater Farm → The Narrows → The Eastern Road → The Western Ruins → The Mines. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
