KovaaK's is an aim trainer, not a game. There is no campaign, no enemies with behaviour worth learning and no progression outside your own scores. It arrived on Steam on 3 April 2018, was later retitled KovaaK 2.0, sells for around 9.99 US dollars, and carries more than 200,000 community-made scenarios alongside the sandbox, benchmark and workshop tooling.
Combat in KovaaK's rewards knowledge over reflexes. Understanding how each mechanic works (and how they interact) is what turns a struggling player into a dominant one. New here? Start with our beginner's guide for the basics.
Core Combat Mechanics
1. Sensitivity matching by cm/360
The single setting that decides whether any of this transfers. Your trainer cm/360 has to equal your game cm/360 exactly, either through the built-in profiles or by calculating sensitivity from your in-game value, the game's yaw constant and your DPI.
Why it matters: This is the foundation of all combat. Everything else builds on this.
2. Playlists and score history
Scenarios are grouped into playlists that run in sequence, and every attempt is logged with a score. The history is the only honest measure of progress, because a single good run means nothing.
Why it matters: The most underrated mechanic. Players who master this early have a massive advantage.
3. Community scenario workshop
Users build and upload scenarios defining targets, bot movement, bot aim, weapons and challenge rules. The library runs past 200,000 entries, which is both the trainer's biggest strength and the reason an unstructured player drowns in it.
Why it matters: Unlocks a new layer of gameplay depth once understood.
4. Voltaic benchmarks
The community standard test suite, split into Clicking, Tracking and Target Switching at Novice, Intermediate and Advanced difficulty. It produces an energy score and a rank, which is what turns raw scores into a meaningful comparison.
Why it matters: The tactical edge that separates average players from advanced ones.
5. Game profile import
Built-in profiles convert your sensitivity for supported titles, and dedicated benchmarks exist for games including VALORANT, Apex Legends and Fortnite. Use these rather than guessing at a conversion by feel.
Why it matters: The endgame optimization mechanic. Small improvements here compound into massive gains.
How These Mechanics Combine
Understanding how mechanics interact is where real optimization happens:
Sensitivity matching by cm/360 + Playlists and score history
The single setting that decides whether any of this transfers. When combined with Playlists and score history, scenarios are grouped into playlists that run in sequence, and every attempt is logged with a score. This combination is the core of every effective build.
Community scenario workshop + Voltaic benchmarks
Users build and upload scenarios defining targets, bot movement, bot aim, weapons and challenge rules. Paired with Voltaic benchmarks, the community standard test suite, split into clicking, tracking and target switching at novice, intermediate and advanced difficulty. This is why the tier list favors builds that leverage both.
Game profile import as a Multiplier
Built-in profiles convert your sensitivity for supported titles, and dedicated benchmarks exist for games including VALORANT, Apex Legends and Fortnite. Use these rather than guessing at a conversion by feel. This system amplifies everything else. The better your Game profile import optimization, the more your other mechanics pay off.
Combat by Role
Each role approaches combat differently:
Low sensitivity arm aimer (A-Tier)
Combat approach: Balanced combat style. Key weapons: Clicking scenarios Primary mechanic: Sensitivity matching by cm/360
Low sensitivity arm aimer offers a solid combat experience. Full setup in our builds guide.
High sensitivity wrist aimer (A-Tier)
Combat approach: Balanced combat style. Key weapons: Tracking scenarios Primary mechanic: Playlists and score history
High sensitivity wrist aimer offers a solid combat experience. Full setup in our builds guide.
Hybrid arm and wrist aimer (A-Tier)
Combat approach: Balanced combat style. Key weapons: Target switching scenarios Primary mechanic: Community scenario workshop
Hybrid arm and wrist aimer offers a solid combat experience. Full setup in our builds guide.
Flick-first shooter (A-Tier)
Combat approach: Balanced combat style. Key weapons: Flicking scenarios Primary mechanic: Voltaic benchmarks
Flick-first shooter offers a solid combat experience. Full setup in our builds guide.
Tracking-first shooter (A-Tier)
Combat approach: Balanced combat style. Key weapons: Strafe and movement scenarios Primary mechanic: Game profile import
Tracking-first shooter offers a solid combat experience. Full setup in our builds guide.
Advanced Combat Techniques
Damage Optimization
- Match your weapons to your role's stat priorities
- Exploit Sensitivity matching by cm/360 for maximum damage windows
- Chain Playlists and score history and Community scenario workshop for combo damage
- Use Voltaic benchmarks to create openings
Survivability
- Learn enemy patterns before committing to attacks
- Set your KovaaK's cm/360 to exactly match your game. Either use the built-in profile for your title or calculate it from your in-game sensitivity, the game's yaw value and your DPI. Training at a different cm/360 builds muscle memory you cannot use.
- Position using Sensitivity matching by cm/360 to control spacing
- Save defensive options for guaranteed survival, not comfort
Boss Combat
Bosses test your understanding of every mechanic. See our boss guide for fight-specific strategies.
- Phase awareness: Most bosses change behavior at health thresholds
- Patience over aggression: One extra hit per opening beats dying to greed
- Build preparation: Swap gear and weapons for specific fights when needed
Common Combat Mistakes
- Button mashing: Committed attacks have recovery frames. Mashing locks you into animations.
- Ignoring Playlists and score history: This mechanic exists for a reason. Players who use it take significantly less damage.
- Wrong weapons for the situation: Check our weapons guide for situational picks.
- Not learning from deaths: Every death teaches something. If you don't know why you died, you'll die the same way again.
- Overcommitting: Trading hits works in Voltaic Aim Training Routines but will get you killed in Game-specific benchmarks.
