Weapons Analysis

Scorpion's Spear: The series' most recognisable move, a thrown spear that pulls the opponent in for a free combo. In MK11 it is slower and more committal than in earlier entries, so it functions as a punish tool rather than a neutral option.

Sub-Zero's Ice Klone: A stationary ice construct that freezes anyone who touches it. It is the backbone of every Sub-Zero game plan because it converts a defensive position into a trap without spending meter.

Cetrion's Hell's Wrath: A rock that drops from above at a set distance, one half of the two-direction pressure that made Cetrion a top-tier zoner. Combined with her ground-level projectiles it leaves very little safe space to stand.

Fujin's Wind Push: A gust that pushes the opponent back, resetting spacing on demand. It is what lets Fujin fight the zoning war on his own terms rather than reacting to someone else's projectile pattern.

Jacqui Briggs' Up Rocket: An upward rocket that covers the air space in front of her, one of the reasons Jacqui is difficult to jump in on. It also opens combo routes that let her convert an anti-air read into real damage.

Meta Analysis

The current meta in Mortal Kombat 11 centers on Fatal Blow and Krushing Blow. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.

What's strong right now:

  • Zoner with Scorpion's Spear is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
  • Kustom Variations builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
  • Setplay Specialist remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.

What's underrated:

  • Rushdown is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
  • Cetrion's Hell's Wrath offers excellent performance for its investment level.

What's overhyped:

  • Pure Neutral and Footsies Player builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
