NBA 2K23 shipped on 9 September 2022, came off sale on 30 November 2024, and lost its online servers on 31 December 2024. MyCAREER and MyTEAM went dark with those servers; 2K's sunset notice lists Play Now, MyNBA, and The W as what still runs for owners who already have it installed. The PC build is the current-gen version, so its neighborhood was the G.O.A.T. Boat rather than the PlayStation 5 City, and this page treats every online mode as dead rather than pretending otherwise.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

S-Tier: Signature jump shot

Each animation carries Shot Speed, Release Height, Defensive Immunity, and Timing Impact ratings. A slower release with high Timing Impact forgives inconsistent input; a fast release with low Timing Impact does not.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Play Now
  2. Pro Stick shot aiming → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Adrenaline sprint launch → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Signature jump shot → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Before anything else, understand what you own: 2K pulled NBA 2K23 from sale on 30 November 2024 and shut its servers on 31 December 2024, so MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and every online mode are gone permanently.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
