DICE's Battlefront II covers the prequel, original and sequel eras in one shooter, with 40 player Galactic Assault as the headline mode across 13 maps. The loot crate progression that dominated its 2017 launch was stripped out and replaced by class based Skill Points, and free content ran until the Scarif update in April 2020. It still fills lobbies on Steam, and Instant Action lets you play the whole thing offline against bots.
Picking the right build determines how your experience plays out. These builds are ranked by overall effectiveness, factoring in damage, survivability, gear requirements, and how well they scale into endgame. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Pros:
- Highest overall performance
- Straightforward gearing path
- Works in all content types
Cons:
- Popular pick, resources may be contested
- Needs specific gear to reach full potential
A-Tier: Heavy
Heavy is a strong option in STAR WARS Battlefront II.
Core Setup

| Stat Priority | Balanced offensive and defensive stats | Optimal scaling |
| Key Mechanic | Star Card loadouts | Each trooper class carries three Star Card slots, upgraded with Crafting Parts through Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. |
How to Play Heavy
Heavy focuses on a balanced approach to content.
Why this role works: Pair EL-16HFE with Star Card loadouts and the build stops depending on a good start, so it holds up across most content. See our weapons guide for detailed weapons breakdowns.
Pros:
- Most versatile option
- Straightforward gearing path
- Works in all content types
Cons:
- Lower peak damage than S-tier
- Needs specific gear to reach full potential

Officer focuses on a balanced approach to content.
Why this role works: Class weapon unlocks covers the gap DC-15LE leaves open, so the build stays usable even when a fight goes badly. See our weapons guide for detailed weapons breakdowns.
Pros:
- Best survivability
- Straightforward gearing path
- Works in all content types
Cons:
- Slower clear speeds
- Needs specific gear to reach full potential

Why this role works: This one leans on Reinforcement units rather than raw numbers, and S-5 is what makes that trade pay off. See our weapons guide for detailed weapons breakdowns.
Pros:
- Strong in group/team content
- Straightforward gearing path
- Excels in its niche
Cons:
- Weaker solo performance
- Requires deep game knowledge
A-Tier: Enforcer
Enforcer is a specialized option in STAR WARS Battlefront II.
Core Setup
| Slot | Choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Weapon | NT-242 | The Specialist sniper unlocked at 400 class kills, capable of a charged shot that kills most troopers outright. |
| Core Gear | Best available for your level | Maximizes build potential |
| Stat Priority | Balanced offensive and defensive stats | Optimal scaling |
| Key Mechanic | Galactic Assault phases | Galactic Assault is asymmetric attack and defend split into scripted phases, such as the AT-AT advance on Hoth or the droid push through Theed. |
How to Play Enforcer
Enforcer focuses on a balanced approach to content.
Why this role works: NT-242 and Galactic Assault phases pull in the same direction here, which separates this from the safer picks above. See our weapons guide for detailed weapons breakdowns.
Pros:
- Unique, rewarding playstyle
- Straightforward gearing path
- Excels in its niche
Cons:
- High skill floor, punishing when misplayed
- Requires deep game knowledge
Build Progression Path
- Start with Heavy: the most forgiving option for learning the game
- Transition to Assault once you understand core mechanics and have access to CR-2
- Keep a Officer setup for content that keeps killing you
- Try Enforcer for a fresh experience once you've mastered the basics
Follow our walkthrough for the optimal progression path through each area.
Gearing Tips
- Invest in your primary weapon first, since it gives the biggest power spike. See our weapons guide for rankings.
- Battle Points come from objective work far faster than from kills. Arming a bomb, holding a capture point or reviving a downed teammate pays more than a streak of kills in an open field, which is why Officers reach 4,000 points before anyone else.
- Spend Battle Points early and often instead of saving for a hero. A Wookiee Warrior or Clone Commando bought three times in a match contributes more than one hero appearance in the final two minutes, and dying with a full bank wastes nothing but time.
- Don't spread upgrade resources across multiple builds until endgame
