DICE's Battlefront II covers the prequel, original and sequel eras in one shooter, with 40 player Galactic Assault as the headline mode across 13 maps. The loot crate progression that dominated its 2017 launch was stripped out and replaced by class based Skill Points, and free content ran until the Scarif update in April 2020. It still fills lobbies on Steam, and Instant Action lets you play the whole thing offline against bots.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (Kamino)

Tipoca City's white corridors, fought by the Republic and Separatists across narrow walkways and cloning chambers. Sightlines are short and the platform edges kill anyone who gets knocked back.

Level/Difficulty: Galactic Assault, Blast, Heroes vs Villains Key Rewards: Clone Commando and Droideka value, tight corridor practice

What to Do in Kamino

  1. Learn Battle Points economy. Kills, objective work and supporting teammates all pay Battle Points during a match. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Heavy as your starting role. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Battle Points come from objective work far faster than from kills. Arming a bomb, holding a capture point or reviving a downed teammate pays more than a streak of kills in an open field, which is why Officers reach 4,000 points before anyone else.
  4. Acquire your first weapons upgrade: EL-16HFE or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Battle Points economy fundamentals
  • Heavy selected and functional
  • Kamino main content cleared
  • Ready for Naboo

Phase 2: Early Game (Naboo)

The assault on Theed, with droids pushing from the plaza through the palace hallways. It is the most consistently popular Galactic Assault map and the shortest ranged of the big ones.

Level/Difficulty: Galactic Assault, Capital Supremacy, Co-Op Key Rewards: Close range weapon mastery, hero heavy final phase

What to Do in Naboo

  1. Work on Star Card loadouts. Each trooper class carries three Star Card slots, upgraded with Crafting Parts through Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for EL-16HFE if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Spend Battle Points early and often instead of saving for a hero. A Wookiee Warrior or Clone Commando bought three times in a match contributes more than one hero appearance in the final two minutes, and dying with a full bank wastes nothing but time.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to Kashyyyk.
  5. Consider whether Assault might suit your playstyle better than Heavy.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Star Card loadouts integrated into gameplay
  • EL-16HFE acquired
  • Naboo fully cleared
  • Ready for Kashyyyk

Phase 3: Mid Game (Kashyyyk)

Wookiee beaches and treetop walkways, split between an open landing phase and a much tighter village fight. Wookiee Warriors are noticeably stronger here than anywhere else.

Level/Difficulty: Galactic Assault, Capital Supremacy Key Rewards: Reinforcement practice, mixed range engagements

What to Do in Kashyyyk

  1. Master Class weapon unlocks. Weapons unlock on kill counts with the class that owns them: 50 kills for the first, 200 for the second and 400 for the third. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward CR-2. It's the best weapon and becomes accessible around now.
  3. The Officer's Battle Command buffs everyone in a radius around you, so standing inside the objective circle with teammates is worth more than any weapon choice. It is also the single fastest Battle Point generator in the game.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Reinforcement units for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Class weapon unlocks mastered
  • CR-2 acquired or in progress
  • Kashyyyk fully cleared
  • Ready for Hoth

Phase 4: Late Game (Hoth)

The Empire walks AT-ATs toward Echo Base while the Rebellion holds turrets and trenches. Long open snow fields make it the best sniper map and the worst one for close range carbines.

Level/Difficulty: Galactic Assault, Co-Op Key Rewards: NT-242 sightlines, AT-AT and speeder play

What to Do in Hoth

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Assault or Heavy with optimized gear.
  2. CR-2 should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Weapon unlocks are tied to class kill counts, not overall level, so switching classes constantly means never unlocking anything. Commit to one class for a few hours to clear the 50, 200 and 400 kill thresholds.
  4. Galactic Assault phases optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Endor.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • CR-2 upgraded to max
  • Hoth fully cleared
  • Ready for Endor

Phase 5: Endgame (Endor)

Forest floor and Imperial bunker, with dense trees breaking most long sightlines. It also hosts Ewok Hunt, the asymmetric mode where Ewoks pick off Stormtroopers in the dark.

Level/Difficulty: Galactic Assault, Ewok Hunt, Blast Key Rewards: Flanking routes, Ewok Hunt achievements

What to Do in Endor

  1. Endor tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Heavy's Combat Shield is directional and blocks blaster fire from the front while your team shoots over the top. Placing it in a doorway rather than in open ground turns a losing defence into a stalemate.
  3. The endgame loop: run Endor, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Enforcer for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where Galactic Assault phases mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • Endor fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Hoarding Battle Points for a hero and dying with them unspent
  • Switching classes constantly so no weapon ever unlocks
  • Chasing kills away from the objective as Officer
  • Sniping with the NT-242 on close quarters maps like Theed
  • Placing the Heavy shield in the open instead of a doorway

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Battle Points come from objective work far faster than from kills. Arming a bomb, holding a capture point or reviving a downed teammate pays more than a streak of kills in an open field, which is why Officers reach 4,000 points before anyone else.
  2. Spend Battle Points early and often instead of saving for a hero. A Wookiee Warrior or Clone Commando bought three times in a match contributes more than one hero appearance in the final two minutes, and dying with a full bank wastes nothing but time.
  3. The Officer's Battle Command buffs everyone in a radius around you, so standing inside the objective circle with teammates is worth more than any weapon choice. It is also the single fastest Battle Point generator in the game.
  4. Weapon unlocks are tied to class kill counts, not overall level, so switching classes constantly means never unlocking anything. Commit to one class for a few hours to clear the 50, 200 and 400 kill thresholds.
  5. Heavy's Combat Shield is directional and blocks blaster fire from the front while your team shoots over the top. Placing it in a doorway rather than in open ground turns a losing defence into a stalemate.
