Respawn shipped the first Cal Kestis game on 15 November 2019, and it is a much narrower toolkit than the sequel. There are exactly two lightsaber configurations here, single and double-bladed, and three skill trees called Force, Lightsaber and Survival holding 33 skills between them. Difficulty does not pad enemy health: Story Mode, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master and Jedi Grand Master change the parry window and enemy aggression instead, so a boss has the same health bar on every setting. The route runs Bracca, Bogano, Zeffo, Kashyyyk, Dathomir, Ilum and finally Nur, and almost every chest you crack along the way holds a poncho or a lightsaber part rather than a stat.

Choosing the right role shapes your entire experience. This guide breaks down every option: what they're good at, what they struggle with, and which one matches your playstyle. For optimized builds with full gear sets, see our builds guide.

Which Role Should You Pick?

For Beginners

Lightsaber tree duellist is the clear winner. It's forgiving, teaches core mechanics, and remains competitive into endgame. Follow our beginner's guide for the best first-session experience.

For Maximum Performance

Force tree specialist is the top pick once you understand the game's mechanics. Pair it with Single-bladed lightsaber for the strongest overall setup.

For a Challenge

Double-bladed crowd controller offers the highest skill ceiling. It's punishing when misplayed but incredibly rewarding when mastered. Only recommended after you've completed the game with another role.

For Group Play

Parry first counterattacker shines in cooperative content with utility and team support capabilities.
