Tale of Immortal is a Chinese cultivation sandbox drawn from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and it sold millions of copies in early access before most Western players had heard of it. You start as a nobody in Yukong Village at the Qi Refining stage and climb ten cultivation realms toward Transcendent. The world runs without you: NPCs age, found sects, marry, break through and die whether or not you ever meet them.
Tale of Immortal features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Yukong Village | Qi Refining | Starter manuals, first weapon path choice, basic gathering | Blade cultivator |
| 2 | Yong Ning | Qi Refining to Foundation | Sect entry, early manuals, Foundation breakthrough materials | Blade cultivator |
| 3 | Hua Feng | Qi Condensation to Golden Core | Six Qi Pearls, Dragon Vein Crystal, epiphany books | Sword cultivator |
| 4 | Yun Mo | Origin Spirit to Nascent Soul | High grade manuals, rare refinement materials | Sword cultivator |
| 5 | Tian Yuan Mountain | Soul Formation and above | Endgame encounters, final progression | Sword cultivator |

Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Yukong Village → Yong Ning → Hua Feng → Yun Mo → Tian Yuan Mountain. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
