Breakpoint moved the series from Bolivia to Auroa in October 2019, and the Steam listing under app 2231380 arrived after that original launch with the full run of title updates already applied. Auroa is Jace Skell's private archipelago, the drones his company built now answer to Cole D. Walker and his Wolves, and Nomad starts the game alone after the convoy carrying his team is shot down. The safe ground is Erewhon, a hidden settlement under Twin Falls Mountain in the Mount Hodgson province, run by ex-Marine Mads Schulz and his wife Maria.
Your choice of weapons defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Weapons Rankings
| Weapon | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 416 | S | General purpose engagements between 50 and 200 metres on any class | The workhorse assault rifle of Breakpoint, with its blueprint held at Shark Base in the Seal Islands. |
| MK17 | A | Fighting armoured Wolves units and any engagement where two-shot kills matter more than volume | A 7. |
| G28 | A | Suppressed medium to long range work where a bolt action is too slow between targets | A marksman rifle that fills the gap between assault rifles and full snipers: semi-automatic, suppressible without collapsing in damage, and accurate enough for 300 metre work. |
| HTI | B | Behemoth weak points, helicopters, and vehicles that need to stop before they reach you | Returning from Wildlands as part of the Survival Series, the HTI is the anti-materiel option and the answer to armoured vehicles and drone weak points. |
| Vector .45 ACP | B | Panther builds and any interior clearing inside 30 metres | The highest rate of fire submachine gun in the game, with low recoil bought at the cost of accuracy and per-shot damage. |
S-Tier: 416
The workhorse assault rifle of Breakpoint, with its blueprint held at Shark Base in the Seal Islands. Balanced recoil and rate of fire, accepts every attachment class, and suppresses well enough to stay useful on stealth builds rather than only loud ones.

| Tier | S |
| Best For | General purpose engagements between 50 and 200 metres on any class |
| Key Mechanic | Gear score and five gear tiers |
| Recommended Role | Assault |
How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.
Best builds using 416: Pairs naturally with Assault thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: MK17
A 7.62mm rifle with a blueprint in the Windy Islands, trading rate of fire for damage per shot. Against armoured Wolves and Sentinel heavies the per-shot figure matters more than the fire rate, which is where the MK17 pulls ahead of the 416.

|---|---|
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Fighting armoured Wolves units and any engagement where two-shot kills matter more than volume |
| Key Mechanic | Bivouacs, injuries and stamina |
| Recommended Role | Panther |
How to get it: Accessible in the early-to-mid game. Check our maps guide for the location.

A-Tier: G28
A marksman rifle that fills the gap between assault rifles and full snipers: semi-automatic, suppressible without collapsing in damage, and accurate enough for 300 metre work. For a Sharpshooter who wants to stay quiet, it beats the HTI outright.

B-Tier: HTI
Returning from Wildlands as part of the Survival Series, the HTI is the anti-materiel option and the answer to armoured vehicles and drone weak points. Tiny magazine, slow cycle, and enough damage that none of that matters against a stationary target.

| Tier | B |
| Best For | Behemoth weak points, helicopters, and vehicles that need to stop before they reach you |
| Key Mechanic | Classes with techniques and class items |

B-Tier: Vector .45 ACP
The highest rate of fire submachine gun in the game, with low recoil bought at the cost of accuracy and per-shot damage. On a Panther, whose proficiency removes the suppressor damage penalty on submachine guns, it becomes the most efficient close range weapon available.

Weapons Progression Path
The order you should acquire weapons as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Mount Hodgson
- MK17 → Your first real upgrade, available early
- G28 → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- 416 → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Weapons Tips
- Always upgrade your primary weapon before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your weapons to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Prone camouflage is the most important survival tool in the game and it is not automatic. Going prone in mud, sand or long grass applies a visible camouflage layer that defeats most drone sweeps and delays Wolves detection long enough for a patrol to walk past.
- Check our tier list for how weapons rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
