Chained Together is a physics driven climbing game from Anegar Games, published by Secret Mode on 19 June 2024 and priced around five euros. One to four players are literally chained to each other and have to climb roughly 3,600 metres from The Hell Cliffs to The Garden, with a fully simulated chain that catches on geometry and drags teammates off ledges. Falling is shared, so one bad jump can undo everyone's last twenty minutes. The map runs through 10 named sections, gated by height rather than by loading screens, and there are three modes: Normal with no checkpoints, Beginner with three checkpoints, and Lava with rising flames chasing you. Leaderboard runs only count in Normal and Lava.
Boss fights are where Chained Together tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.
Boss Difficulty Overview

| The Subway Station | Moderate | The Jumper | Long jump |
| The City | Hard | The Anchor | Standard jump |
| The Harbor | Very Hard | The Anchor | Standard jump |

The Hell Cliffs Bosses
Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: 0 to 300 metres Recommended build: The Jumper with Long jump
Strategy
The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. The chain is a real physics object, not a leash with a fixed radius. This is your primary tool here.
Key tips:
- Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
- Use Simulated chain physics to create safe windows.
- Long jump is enough to handle everything here.
The Subway Station Bosses
Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: 600 to 1,100 metres Recommended build: The Jumper with Long jump
Strategy
Early game bosses test your understanding of Shared fall punishment. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.
Key tips:
- Shared fall punishment is critical for these fights.
- Farm Long jump upgrades if you're struggling.
- Consider switching to The Jumper if your current setup isn't working.
The City Bosses
Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: 1,100 to 1,600 metres Recommended build: The Anchor with Standard jump
Strategy
Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.
Key tips:
- You need both Simulated chain physics and Height gated zones mastery.
- Standard jump makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
- See our combat guide for advanced techniques.
The Harbor Bosses
Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: 1,600 to 2,100 metres Recommended build: The Anchor with Standard jump
Strategy
Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.
Key tips:
- Make sure your build is fully optimized.
- Standard jump at max upgrade is recommended.
- Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.
The Garden Bosses
Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: 3,200 to 3,600 metres Recommended build: The Anchor with Standard jump
Strategy
Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.
Key tips:
- Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
- Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
- These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.
General Boss Tips
- Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
- Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
- Upgrade your equipment: A max-upgraded Standard jump trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
- Use Simulated chain physics: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
- Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
