tobspr Games launched shapez 2 in Early Access on 15 August 2024 and shipped the 1.0 build on 23 April 2026. Factories are built on space platforms with three stacked building floors, joined by belts, belt launchers and trains, and everything you produce ends up in the Vortex. There is no combat, no pollution and no resource depletion, only throughput and layout.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Platform floor 1
  2. Rotator → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Stacker → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Cutter → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Save a blueprint the first time any block works. Rebuilding the same cutter and rotator arrangement by hand is the single largest waste of time in the game, and stamping costs blueprint points you receive in blocks of thousands.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
