Farm Together 2 left Early Access on 30 May 2025, a little over a year after Milkstone Studios opened it on 7 May 2024. It keeps the first game's real time clock, so crops keep growing while the game is closed and a full in-game season passes in roughly 17 minutes. There is no combat and no fail state; the entire game is one levelling curve where Farm Level gates every seed, animal and building you can buy.
This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

See our maps guide for detailed area breakdowns.
Phase 1: Getting Started (Your farm plots)
The grid you actually build on. It grows from a single starting plot toward a 7x7 arrangement of 49 plots, roughly 39,200 tiles at full size.
Level/Difficulty: Farm Level 1 to the high levels; full expansion is a very long project Key Rewards: Space for every crop, tree, animal, pond and flower category at once
What to Do in Your farm plots
- Learn Real time growth with offline progress. Crops, trees and ponds advance on the wall clock rather than on turns, and progress continues while the game is shut. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
- Pick Trees as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
- Buy the Garage the moment you hit Farm Level 2. The tractor changes how every later decision plays out, and a farm laid out before you own one usually needs replanting to line up with the 3x3 work area.
- Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Sprinklers or whatever's available.
- Clear all main content before moving on.
Phase 1 Checklist
- Understand Real time growth with offline progress fundamentals
- Trees selected and functional
- Your farm plots main content cleared
- Ready for The town
Phase 2: Early Game (The town)
Where stalls and specialty buildings live. Stall size and count scale with Farm Level, and this is the diamond faucet the rest of the game depends on.
Level/Difficulty: First stalls from Farm Level 2 onward Key Rewards: Diamonds, quest boards and access to buildings you cannot place on the farm
What to Do in The town
- Work on Three currencies: coins, diamonds and medals. Coins come from harvesting and selling. This system becomes critical from here on.
- Farm for Sprinklers if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
- Plant in blocks of one species and put a sign on each block. Quests ask for specific goods, and hunting for four scattered pumpkins across a 39,200 tile farm is how sessions get wasted.
- Complete all objectives before pushing to The bank.
- Consider whether Crops might suit your playstyle better than Trees.
Phase 2 Checklist
- Three currencies: coins, diamonds and medals integrated into gameplay
- Sprinklers acquired
- The town fully cleared
- Ready for The bank
Phase 3: Mid Game (The bank)
The bank is the mid-game skill check.
Level/Difficulty: Intermediate Key Rewards: Progression materials and gear upgrades
What to Do in The bank
- Master Farm Level gates every unlock. Almost nothing is bought with money alone. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
- Start working toward The tractor. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
- Flowers are the experience crop. Flower beds keep producing after planting, so a large flower area you only water and harvest levels the farm faster than rotating vegetables does.
- This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
- Start investing in Tractor automation from the Garage for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.
Phase 3 Checklist
- Farm Level gates every unlock mastered
- The tractor acquired or in progress
- The bank fully cleared
- Ready for Ponds
Phase 4: Late Game (Ponds)
Fish areas you dig on your own land. They harvest on a seasonal cycle with no feeding, but per tile yield falls off in large ponds.
Level/Difficulty: Salmon opens at Farm Level 6, Emerald Swordfish around 48 Key Rewards: High value fish stock for stall conversion and quests
What to Do in Ponds
- Finalize your build. You should be running Crops or Trees with optimized gear.
- The tractor should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
- Water flowers only when you want coins. Watering roughly doubles the money from a flower harvest but leaves the experience unchanged, so a pure levelling pass can skip watering entirely and go twice as fast.
- Terraforming and plot expansion optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
- Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Your house interior.
Phase 4 Checklist
- Build fully optimized
- The tractor upgraded to max
- Ponds fully cleared
- Ready for Your house interior
Phase 5: Endgame (Your house interior)
A decoratable indoor space with its own jobs. House jobs feed the ticket economy that pays farmhands, so it is not purely cosmetic.
Level/Difficulty: Available early, expanded by later purchases Key Rewards: Tickets for farmhand wages, decoration slots and cooking and painting activities
What to Do in Your house interior
- Your house interior tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
- Keep individual fish ponds small. Yield per tile falls once a pond passes roughly 36 tiles, and a very large pond returns around half the per tile yield, so several modest ponds beat one lake.
- The endgame loop: run Your house interior, optimize gear, push harder content.
- Experiment with Flowers for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
- This is where Terraforming and plot expansion mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.
Phase 5 Checklist
- Endgame content on farm
- Best-in-slot gear acquired
- Your house interior fully cleared
- Ready for challenge content
Common Progression Mistakes
- Laying out fields in odd shapes that the 3x3 tractor sweep cannot cover cleanly.
- Digging one huge pond and losing roughly half the per tile fish yield to the size penalty.
- Grinding coins while ignoring diamonds, then being unable to buy the next plot.
- Mixing crop species across a single field, which turns every quest into a search.
- Buying decorations before the Garage, the Warehouse and stall upgrades.
Key Tips for Smooth Progression
- Buy the Garage the moment you hit Farm Level 2. The tractor changes how every later decision plays out, and a farm laid out before you own one usually needs replanting to line up with the 3x3 work area.
- Plant in blocks of one species and put a sign on each block. Quests ask for specific goods, and hunting for four scattered pumpkins across a 39,200 tile farm is how sessions get wasted.
- Flowers are the experience crop. Flower beds keep producing after planting, so a large flower area you only water and harvest levels the farm faster than rotating vegetables does.
- Water flowers only when you want coins. Watering roughly doubles the money from a flower harvest but leaves the experience unchanged, so a pure levelling pass can skip watering entirely and go twice as fast.
- Keep individual fish ponds small. Yield per tile falls once a pond passes roughly 36 tiles, and a very large pond returns around half the per tile yield, so several modest ponds beat one lake.
